enigmatic painting, house museum

"The Polish Rider," an enigmatic painting attributed to Rembrandt, led us to visit this small museum in New York. This joins two of our passions, as it also has the work of Antonio Muñoz Molina. This museum is a must, just for the three Vermeers located next to the stairs. A house museum which has preserved its characteristic familiar residence with rooms, furniture, and windows that open to the garden. You can admire the next great European masters: Ingres, Liotard, Gainsborough, Van Dyck, Hals, Titian, El Greco, Holbein, and Rembrandt, and among them only the American Henry Frick has been considered up to height.

The best museum in NY

This could be said to be the best museum in NY, and it's virtually unknown in comparison to the more famous MOMA and the Metropolitan. Although it appears in the most popular guides, the Frick has far fewer tourists. Inside you can see the portrait of St Thomas More, the Polish rider, and the only royal portrait painted by Velazquez in the United States. You'll find it next to Central Park.
