The Imperial Villa of Canavieiras

The Imperial Vila Canavieiras was founded in 1833 by farmers who left Ilheus in search of fertile land. In the past, the cultivation of cocoa was this place's "el dorado," so to speak, which left a legacy in the village because the homes there used to be cacao stores. Today, these homes have been restored and are part of Brazil's cultural heritage. They've retained their vibrant colors and their typical facades. In Canavieiras there's a river (the Pardo), a sea (and Blue Marlin Sport Fishing), an island (part of it is in the city, and part is on 16 kilometers of beach), "Manguezais" which are trees growing in a mixture of river and sea water.
