    The Queen Mary

    Until 1948, one of the largest and fastest transatlantic ships was the Queen Mary. After it's launch in 1936 it spent several years as a cruise liner and during World War II it was used as a troop transport in many times until 1946. After the world war it was again reformed to continue making leisure trips until it's final journey in 1967. This is the year when it was moved to Long Beach dock to begin it's new life as a museum, hotel and conference center.
