1 review of The Tiled Kiosk

Beautiful facade

Besides the Ancient Orient Museum and the Archaeological Museum in the "artistic" complex in the gardens of Topkapi Palace we found this beautiful kiosk called the Aulejos. It was built by Mehmet the Conqueror and is considered the oldest surviving nonreligious building in Istanbul. Built in 1472 as an outdoor pavilion it was used to watch sporting events. The highlight of the Kiosk of Tiles is its beautiful facade. As we stated in its name, you must look at the beauty of the handmade tiles that decorate it, in shades of blue, the quintessential color of Turkish ornamentation.
