5 reviews of Tiradentes Palace

Eclectic building

It was a gray January day and Rio's streets were practically empty. That's when I saw Palácio Tiradentes. This was where Congress was held between 1926 and 1960. Today it is the current home of the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro. It is built in an eclectic style, with allegorical sculptures representing independence and the republic. Inside, the dome is decorated with paintings by Brazilian artist Rodolfo Chambelland, as well as works by other renowned artists such as Eliseu Visconti.
