Tiritiri Matangi

This is an island south of Auckland which was deforested in the mid-'80s and a reforestation program run by volunteers began in 1985. It has abundant bird species such as Kiwi Neozelandesas, the Hihi, the Bellbird, the Woodpijein and others. They also have many types of insect and even penguins! All surrounded by amazing views. There is an old lighthouse that has solar panels, it's purpose being to protect all living organisms that inhabit the area. You can take a walk with volunteer guides ve give you lots of information. You can stay up late with no luxuries, just your sleeping bag, and enjoy
