Tortuguero Village

If you don't wish to be a prisoner of the luxury Lodges tour packages in Tortuguero, then you must stay in the village. I saw few Spanish in the village and those in the resorts almost all were sorry, because hotel is lovely but they could not leave. They could only leave for short times and this was based on the availability of the boat from the hotel to town. The boat trips were few and strictly scheduled. The village has no luxury lodges but they are pretty good and give you the freedom to move and contact the friendly locals, who incidentally, have created the webpage that I posted. The village
