A beautiful view

The tourist office of Edinburgh and the Lothians sits on Prince Street, one of the busiest streets in the Scottish capital. Besides a large hotel, there is an airy plaza where you have a beautiful view of the castle and the North Bridge, and this is where you'll find the tourist office. You can get a map of the city to help you find your way around, and see where the boundaries lie between the two parts of the city, which are known as Old Town and New Town. Old Town is, logically enough, the place where you'll find the medieval castle, the Royal Mile and the cathedral, all the oldest buildings in Edinburgh that go back many centuries, but New Town isn't particularly young, either.

Information for tourists

The tourist office in Edinburgh and Lothian region is located on Princes Street, one of the busiest streets of the Scottish capital. Beside the large hotel there is an esplanade, where you will have a view of the castle and the North Bridge. The tourist office is there, located in a basement.

You can get a map of the city to settle in. It will tell you where the edge of the old town is, separated into two between Old Town and New Town is. The Old Town is medieval, with the castle, the Royal Mile, and the cathedral, but the New Town is not so. It is rather the second extension of the city, and is also protected by and recognized as UNESCO World Heritage.
