Town Hall of Oxford

The Town Hall is the town hall of Oxford. While County Hall, near the castle, is responsible for the region of Oxfordshire, the Town Hall handles the management problems and issues of the city of Oxford. The building is on St Aldate's main street that goes to the south from Carfax and is close to Christ Church College. The building is on the former site of the first Guildhall, built in 1291. It was replaced when the city grew by this more formal building in 1752 and the architect was Isaac Ware. The current building now serves as a place for formal events like weddings and birthday parties and houses the Museum of Oxford.
