A good market
The Mercado Municipal de Vila Real is located in the upper area of the city, occupying an entire block between Santa Sophia and Gonçalo Cristovao streets. The market is located inside of a covered building, with a granite facade, and is dedicated to food: the market boasts areas for Butchers, greengrocers, fishmongers, etc..
On the perimeter of the building, under the arcades, there are usually small stalls, which sell mainly fruit, vegetables and flowers. The market is only open in the morning, from Monday to Saturday.
