Villa Delfina

Villa Delfina is another of the Indian houses that I visited on my route between Cantabria and Asturias this past Easter. The name "Indian house" refers to all the buildings erected by the Spanish migrants who made their fortune in America and came to Spain to build houses. In this case it is the house built by Joseph Eguen Otazabal, an immigrant who made his fortune in Puerto Rico. This house is located just past the crossing which separates the Cantabrian town of Unquera and the Asturian town of Bustio, which in turn belongs to the main town of Ribadedeva. It was built by the architect Mariano Santander Deogracias Alfaro Lopez and it took 4 years to build Villa Delfina, between the years of 1921-1925.
