Waltraf Carnivals Square

They say that this is the third busiest carnival after the carnivals of Rio de Janeiro and Venice. I went to Cologne mostly because it was the most accessible for me and as I have not been to the others, I'm sorry but I can not make a fair judgment. The street parades in this German city smell anything but a colony. They smell of beer, sausages and sweets know ... all I ate. To get there was only imitating children shouting "Kamelle! Kamelle". Also cheered the floats pass: "Kölle alaaf!", "Long live Cologne!" (To make the ball). This reminded me of the rides of the Magi and, indeed, in the Cathedral of Cologne are kept the relics of these three wise men.

Great

Cologne holds a carnival by the Dom train station and old town. It's such a huge function that you'll see small groups of partyers participating throughout the city.

This is the actual start of Fasching, also known as the 5th season in Germany. However most regions celebrate Fasching the week leading up to Ash Wednesday but in Cologne they throw a party like no other on the first day, 11/11 at 11:11 of every year.

Well worth participating in, even if it's just to people watch all of the people dressed up.
