1 review of Wat Phanan Choeng

A beautiful temple

This temple was built in 1324, making it even older than the city of Ayutthaya. Legend has it that a king who lived in the region sought the hand of the Chinese emperor's daughter in marriage. She was brought by boat from China and presented to the king, who found her disappointing and eventually had her killed. This temple was built to honour her soul. It's a beautiful temple, near the river. On the left are several stalls selling souvenirs, and straight ahead there are images of gods and incense. The temple architecture has impressive details, colours, and beautiful gardens. Inside is a 19m statue of Buddha.
