Conference building

An imposing building used today as a conference center and exhibit space, both public and private. Donated by Evangelos and Konstantinos Zappas, two cousins ve made a fortune in Romania. Built between 1874 and 1888 by the architect of the "Academy of Athens" Theophil Hansen, it has private gardens, although much smaller than the National Gardens (adjacent to the building), they are equally attractive for its rich floral design. The initial aim was to create a large exhibition hall, ready for use during the first modern Olympic Games in Athens. The site was based in the Ilissos River region, between the Temple of Zeus and the National Gardens.
