All about Berlin tourism

Berlin is the capital of Germany and one of Europe’s most modern cities. Since the fall of the famous Berlin Wall, the city has experienced an explosion of culture, commerce, and the arts, drawing millions of visitors in the process, all wanting to visit Berlin to discover the heart of modern Europe.

The best time to travel to Berlin is during the spring and summer months, when the trees along the city’s wide avenues are in bloom. International visitors will most likely begin their Berlin holiday at Tegel Airport, which has a speedy rail connection with the city center. Berlin is also accessible via train from all major German cities and most of the great capitals of Europe.

A trip to Berlin provides a unique mix of history and modernity. Attractions like the Berlin Wall, Jewish Museum, Charlottenburg Palace, and Berlin Cathedral give insight into Berlin’s rich historical legacy, but they also stand alongside areas like Alexanderplatz and Kreuzberg which are full of forward-thinking shops, restaurants, and galleries. Be sure to make time during your Berlin vacation for a day at Museum Island, a section of the city housing five world-renowned museums including the Bode and Pergamon museums.

While Berlin tourism is not usually associated with high cuisine, the city is home to plenty of casual, friendly restaurants ranging from the ubiquitous currywursts to famous brunch spots and Turkish cuisine (Berlin is home to the kebab). These informal eateries serve up Berliner comfort food and will let you fully savor the tastes of Berlin and eat like a local during your holiday in Berlin.
