The White Mansion Hotel, also known as Hotel Baisha (the transcription of its Chinese name), is located in one of the most remote areas of North Sichuan Road. It's one of the cheapest hotels in the area that can be booked online, with standard rooms starting at 18.00 euros per night. For this price you can enjoy a single room with a bathroom, and for 2 or 3 euros more you can have a larger bed. The internet connection is unlimited (cable), although it's not the quickest in the world. Be careful as not all the rooms have an internet connection; we had to change our first room for one that did. The hotel is old, the service isn't fantastic, but it's clean and the facilities are decent (at least on the floors aimed at western tourists - apparently it's not the case on the floors for Chinese tourists!). I wouldn't recommend it for a great holiday, but for a budget destination, it's fine.
Whenever we talk about the Sheraton chain, we talk about high-end hotels, about quality and, normally, also about a prime location, and the Sheraton Grand Shanghai is no exception.
The hotel is spotless, clean and classically decorated without missing a single detail. The service is excellent, exactly what you would expect from a high end hotel. It has several restaurants that host Italian, Chinese and Japanese food, which, so far, for those who have tried it, is what gives the most the best while outside of Japan.
However, if we return to the problems of such hotels, you can connect to the internet from your room but by paying absurd amounts that make connecting to the internet into a business, not a service.
This might be the best hostel in Shanghai. It has a great location, great atmosphere, it's friendly, clean and has a friendly staff. There is a bar, a restaurant, a ballroom, a fountain with water and fish, two free computers and Wifi.
It is a spectacular place, if you're traveling in Shanghai.
It's 1 minute from People's Square.
Remember, if you have a Hosteling International discount card, the price for a 6 people dorm room is about 6 euros per bed.
You have a buffet breakfast for 2 and a half euros, with sandwiches, fruit, juice, coffee or tea.
You will not be disappointed!
The New Asia Hotel has a great location with an affordable price. The rooms are large and bright, but even upon arrival, I was very happy with the look of the hotel and its value, however, I left with a rather bitter taste due to the lousy service.
When I asked if there was internet in the rooms they said yes, but after several hours of working it suddenly cut out. They said it was broken. The next day I called again and was told that it was not broken, but that I had to pay extra in advance to use it. Could they not have said from the beginning?
They also cut the heat at night (to save money?) and I awoke very cold. What kind of service is that? The fact is that if you come to Shanghai, do not come to this hotel (or at least NOT during the winter).
The Okura Garden Hotel is situated right in the Old French Concession in Shanghai Puxi, just west of the Huangpu River. It is in a building that was built by the French between the year 1924 and 1926 and has influences of art deco, during the occupation of Shanghai, and it is an architectural heritage site in the city of Shanghai. It has 492 rooms: 215 standard rooms, 166 deluxe, 64-enabled offices for meetings and 47 suites. The Presidential Suite has hosted numerous celebrities and personalities from the world of politics, art or fashion. The standard double room costs about 150 euros a night.
The Bridge Hotel Shanghai is only a ten minute ride to one of the most famous and luxurious shopping areas in Shanghai: West Nanjing Road. In addition, it is also near the famous Buddhist temple Jing'An and another of the most famous of the city: the Jade Buddha Temple.
There is a pick-up service from the two city airports. Most important, the Pudong, is about 40 miles from the Bridge. In addition, the main Shanghai Railway Station is only fifteen minutes away by foot.
Of course the hotel has all the required amenities: air conditioning (crucial for a city like Shanghai), telephone, Internet, and mini bar. It is a four-star hotel and the staff speak English.
The price is really good: A standard double room costs between 50 and 60 euros from August to December.
The Peace Hotel in Shanghai is one of the most renowned buildings and dates from the years of Western colonization. It is also without a doubt the most famous hotel in the city, although it is far less popular than it was in its prime. It is the epitome of Art Deco in this Chinese city and is located in front of the promenade of the Bund, where you can see countless skyscrapers.
The Huanting hotel is one of the best hotels in Shanghai. It is currently hosting the football teams competing in the soccer preliminaries in Shanghai. It is located directly across from the Shanghai Stadium, in the south of the city, in an area where you can find all amenities such as shopping centers, cinemas, cafes and restaurants ... In fact this part of Shanghai is famous for Xujiahui stores right next is the Wantiguan metro stop.
The Jin Jiang Tower is a skyscraper located in Changle Road in Shanghai's French Concession, in the southern center of the city.
This is a five star hotel that normally hosts politicians and artists who are visiting the city. Its brochures say that more than 300 heads of state and celebrities from around the world have stayed in this hotel.
The decor of the rooms, which number 648, is Western themed, but they have typical Asian decor as well. It has all kinds of facilities such as a gym, a sauna, meeting rooms, several restaurants, a swimming pool, and a Jacuzzi.
There are numerous brand-clothing stores and malls nearby. There are also many restaurants with various culinary styles.
Without a doubt it is the best accommodation option for backpackers in the Bund, Shanghai's colonial tourist area. Located next to the river it offers stunning views of the sunrise. The hotel has double rooms, but also offers a YHA hostel, with "cabins", because the decor is entirely marine, and the rooms are shared. The reception staff speak English well and are very friendly, and the rooftop bar is one of the best options at night, with breathtaking views of the skyscrapers across the river (the Jinmao Tower and TV Tower). Pure Blade Runner scenery.
We went to Beijing, Xian, and Shanghai for two weeks. A friend who lives in Shanghai recommended that we stay at Moganshan Loft to see some nature and history on the outskirts of this huge city. And indeed, Moganshan Loft was the perfect place to end our trip, with the feeling of an authentic Chinese village - something quite special after visiting such big cities. It was comfortable, pleasant and had stunning views...really, it's a New York-style loft in the middle of nature. We spent two days walking through the national park, seeing the old houses from the last century and enjoying the area. I recommend the chicken soup that they serve in the restaurants...simple but delicious!
Le Tour is one of the best hotels I've stayed in. The rooms are spacious and clean, with lockers for you to keep your valuables safe. The bathrooms are in excellent condition, and it also has common rooms with pool tables, ping pong, and foosball tables. There's a cafe, where you can enjoy a relaxing drink on the terrace at night.
The staff speaks very good English, the service is fast and efficient, and the only bad thing I can really say about the place is its access - as with most hostels in China, it's not located in a very good area, and it's not recommended for women travelling alone. Not because it's dangerous, but because it's located in a rather rough alley. During the day it's not too bad, but at night it's dimly lit and quite off-putting. Beyond that, highly recommended!. Prices hover at 60 RMB per person sharing the room (there are rooms that are for women only and others that are just for men, you have to look before you book).
In front of the surreal sites of new Shanghai, this hotel is a landmark for the city. With huge corridors and super comfortable rooms, common areas such as the pool, the restaurants, and the jazz bar are a must visit. The staff are really helpful and speak English, which is a rarity among Chinese establishments.
Midtown Business Hotel is located in the city center of Shanghai. The 67 spacious and fully furnished apartments are decorated in the typical American style on their exterior. The whole apartment-style hotel includes fresh towels daily, a laundry and linen change twice a week, 24 hour security and room service. It is equipped with cooking utensils, among other things.
Shanghai City Central Youth Hostel is located in Putuo District, close to the subway station. To enter it, you have to go through a wide and usually well-lit alley. The building is very well-maintained, and the staff are friendly and speak good English. The common room is spacious and has comfortable armchairs and a library. It also has a large number of computers with free internet for guests. My favorite thing, though, is the bar inside the building, where you can eat, drink, watch TV, play pool or check your email. This is open until two in the morning, and it is usually full of travelers looking to make friends and have fun. As for the rooms and amenities, they're very good, clean and tidy. The individual rooms cost around 20.00 euros for a double bed with bathroom, and shared rooms are just 6.00 euros. One thing to remember - the website claims that the hostel has towel service, but it doesn't, so if you're going to stay here, bring your own towel!
Hensshen Peninsula International Hotel is a 4-star hotel in Shanghai. Apart from the size of the rooms (small!), it's what you'd expect from a hotel of this category. It's located in a skyscraper in the city, and has a spacious lobby, a spa and a pool, with a great breakfast. The price is superb.
The Best Western Pudong Sun Hotel is a magnificent building in the heart of the historical center, that boasts an excellent location for those of you who wish to explore the attractions of the city as well as the surrounding areas. It also has superior rooms and suites that are fully-equipped, including luxury amenities. Guests have a variety of services at their disposal.
The Otv Guest House Shanghai (Pudong - Schanghai - China) is an upscale 3-star hotel complete with modern facilities that match international standards. It is located in the newly developed area of Pudong, about 15 minutes from Shanghai and from the New Expo Fair Tower. The Oriental Pearl, a local Chinese Restaurant serves delicious meals. The hotel offers massage services and a sauna center, bowling alley, billiard room and several gym rooms. There are also meeting rooms and in total there are 57 rooms.
The hotel is located in a quiet area near the airport, and offers spacious rooms, Room service, laundry facilities, airport shuttle services, a safe in each room, game room, meeting rooms and a variety of services. Ideal for those who are on business or want a relaxing holiday either with family.
