Where to Stay in Hong Kong

    Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong hotel
    Hotels in
    Hong Kong
We went to the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong in March 2013. We stayed in an exquisite suite. It had good taste even in the bathroom (shower gel, soap, shampoo Aqua di Parma). The service and treatment from arrival and during the stay (room service, the MO bar upstairs and the Grill) to exit have been among the best we have had (if you go to the airport by car with driver MO, billed the bags , they take you to immigration control 'Fast Track' so you can enjoy the VIP lounge of Cathay Pacific. It was a unique experience. (we really like the MO, New York, Paris, Macao, but Hong Kong is the one we liked best).

    Metropark Hotel Mongkok
    Hotels in
    Hong Kong
This hotel's main attraction is its great location, even though it is a bit far away from the island of Hong Kong. It is situated in Kowloon, and specifically in Mongkok, a residential neighborhood famous for its street markets, excellent nightlife and shops and stalls open until dawn. Moreover, the hotel is average. Be careful if you go with the lower rooms, there is plenty of street noise and the walls are thin . The service was ver good and there are several restaurants inside, if you do not want to go too far. It is also very well connected to every things thanks to take the subway at the door (Prince Edward Station, which brings you in 15 minutes to the Central District).

    Hong Kong SkyCity Marriott Hotel
    Hotels in
    Hong Kong
The SkyCity Marriott Hotel in Hong Kong is located just a few minutes away from Hong Kong International airport, next to the [poi = 58789] Word Expo Asia station [/ poi] where you can catch the Airport Express. It is a hotel of the standard of Marriot chain hotels, but with the advantage that it is fairly new, and it shows in its decoration and structure of their services. The rooms are spacious with all the details and nicely designed (as you can see in the video). The prices range from 100Euros per night with a very good price / quality ratio. The staff are really friendly (they speak several languages, but not, for now, Castillian) and the facilities are well kept. Besides being a relatively new hotel, they also have many offers. For example, they gave me a free upgrade to an executive room. The pool and gym are also very good facilities including sauna, massage room and Jacuzzi. The only bad point is its location, but they make up for it as they offer guests free tickets for the Airport Express that takes you in less than 30 minutes to the [poi = 4529] central district of Hong Kong [/ poi].

    Louie Business Hotel
    Hotels in
    Hong Kong
This small two star hotel is located in Haipong, perpendicular to Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui. Reception is on the second floor, without an elevator, from there you are able to go by elevator to subsequent floors. it is more reminiscent of a hostel than a hotel. For a 30-40 Euros you can get a single room with a private bathroom, pool and internet cable, the double is 50 Euros, which is not much larger than a single room but is enough for two people. Not expensive for the services it provides and for the area in which it is, but do not look for luxury and comfort, such hotels are designed to meet the needs of the tourist without many other benefits. Yes, the staff are friendly and the rooms are clean.

    Silka Far East Hotel
    Hotels in
    Hong Kong
Dorsett Far East Hotel is situated away from the city center and close to the airport but not close enough to be a transit hotel. It is a cheap hotel, but the rooms are small, with few benefits and internet charges. The hotel is clean and the service is good, the price is relatively good for Hong Kong, but in relation to its location it is not such a fantastic deal. Although we found a commercial center and several restaurants around, it is not a hotel I would recommend staying at if you are traveling to Hong Kong.

    Prudential Hotel
    Hotels in
    Hong Kong
The Prudential Hotel on Nathan Road, which is directly accessible from the metro Jordan in Kowloon. The situation is good, rooms are big, bright and well decorated, and the hotel is well located. It also has a rooftop pool. On the negative side, the deposit to be left is 100Euros, which I think is excessive, the internet is very expensive, either in the rooms or in the "Business Center" (5EUROS for 15 minutes) and the pool, although not dirty, was not as clean as you would expect from a 4 star.

    Chungking Mansions
    Hostels in
    Hong Kong
The Chungking Mansions is a 16 storey building, located in the main shopping district of Kwoloon, on Nathan Road. It is one of the best places where you can find cheap accommodation in Hong Kong because there could be more than 15 hostels spread between 4 lifts, with security guard in order to control the order of thhe queue of people entering, running through the building. The higher the hostel, the cheaper the price. I stayed on the 16th floor (the top floor), at the Traveler Hostel, a kind of traveler madhouse with people who had been living in a shared room. It´s worth going up just to see it. The views from the room were amazing, as you can see in the pictures. The atmosphere is excellent, especially on nights when the owner is inspired and starts playing his guitar to entertain the staff.

    Shamrock Hotel
    Hotels in
    Hong Kong
The Hotel Shamrock is one of my favorite hotels in Kowloon. It's on Nathan Road and situated in a good area so the value is good. The rooms are somewhat small and the hotel is a bit old. But the service is good and the hotel in general is very clean. Internet is not free but for about 10Euros a day can have a flat rate at an acceptable speed. If don´t have your laptop, you can rent one at reception or go to the work center of the second floor. Ideally, ask the hotel booking agency in mainland China, as they have deals of up to 50% if you book from some time before the other and the border ladod SAR.

    Rambler Oasis Hotel
    Hotels in
    Hong Kong
This hotel was built recently, so everything is brand new. The service is good and affordable. The only problem is that, although situated in the Kowloon Peninsula, it´s far from the center of the district. It is very near Tsing-yi and well connected by shuttle bus to the station [poi = 70394] Airport Express [/ poi] and / or Kwai Fong Station (the nearest underground) to the area where the Hotel is located.

    Dorsett Mongkok, Hong Kong hotel
    Hotels in
    Hong Kong
Despite not being in the center of Nathan Road, rather off the beaten track, it is perfect for a few nights in HK. The hotel is relatively new, the decor is modern and the rooms are well equipped, even with adapter plugs. Obviously for this price the rooms are very small. Just enough for beds and a small glass cabinet above the minibar. Opposite there is a McDonald that is open 24h and plenty of restaurants and shops. It is located near Olympic station, which offers a short ride to the center of Kowloon. It has free wifi in the lobby and reception area.

    Apple Hostel
    Hotels in
    Hong Kong
In the famous Chung Mansions [there are many hostels, and guest houses are very cheap. We stayed at Apple Hostel which costed us $42 per night (ie $ 21 per person). The hostel was very clean although the room was very small but adequate for sleeping and resting after you tour the city. There was abouta foot around the bed. A very small bathroom a shower inside. For the price you pay it is fair.. It also has a TV with many channels, air conditioning, fan and you get towels. Of course, they also clean the room. Another VERY good thing going for it is that it had free wifi. The hostel is on the third lift block (tenth floor), which is an advantage. We never had to wait more than two trips.
