nh collection amsterdam grand hotel krasnapolsky

    Amsterdam
It´s a super luxury hotel. It has normal rooms but there are also apartments along the canal. It's like a city since several buildings are joined together to preserve the facades. It is worth seeing, even if it´s just to see the greenhouse hall that is used as the breakfast room. Beautiful indeed. It is part of the Spanish chain NH. They have some nice additional details for the kids and even though it´s a 5-star hotel, it isn´t elitist. It´s my favorite way to stay in Amsterdam. It's expensive, but worth it.

    Amsterdam
I thought it was an excellent hotel. Well-situated, very clean and cozy. One side has a bar that is very nice to have breakfast like a great coffee with milk and brownie, or chocolate muffins. There are many tables. Everything is close, only a walk away from the Dam Square in the red light district, the opera, the canals. It´s a good area to rest. In general everything perfect.

We stayed here longer than we expected, because of the Icelandic volcano ash cloud. The hotel has a jetty on the canal from where you can take a boat trip. The highlight ... EVERYTHING! A four star hotel with each room different, but luxurious. Original pieces of modern art and furniture throughout. It's hard to describe exactly ... in a modern room where all hotels seem more or less the same, this will linger in my memory for a long time.

    stayokay amsterdam vondelpark
    Youth Hostels in
    Amsterdam
A perfect option if you are looking for basic accomodation that is cheap and with decent installations. Not only is it in perfect condition, it is clean, comfy and with big resting rooms, also a bar and computers. There is a buffet breakfast that is very complete. It´s very recommendable for groups: cheap, close to the center (you can go walking to all the places of interest), cozy...you can´t ask for more!

    Amsterdam
It is one of the best hotels in Amsteradam in terms of quality-price. It´s very centric and well communicated in the Museum neighborhood with a tram stop just a minute away, or the Leidseplein Square 5 minutes walking. It´s very clean, comfortable and the bathroom of the rooms are some of the best I´ve seen. They leave you your own food and has a breakfast buffet service for 5 euros.

van der valk hotel a4 schiphol
    Hotels in
    Amsterdam
The Schiphol Hotel is a hotel just a few kilometers away from Schiphol Airport and there is a free transport service from the airport to the hotel and back, where you can find the bus on the platform A (it comes at a frequency of 15-20 minutes). The hotel is very well-equipped, the restaurant (next to reception) is exquisite and the service is good. The rooms are big and well-equipped, but the bad thing is once more the price of internet (6 Euros for 15 minutes).

    Amsterdam
The Rho Hotel is located in the main square Dam. It´s about 10 minutes walking from the central station. The service is nice and the rooms are clean and comfy. They have wifi connection that is free in the rooms. The staff service is nice. The best of the hotel is that you can visit any area of Amsterdam walking and practically all the trams of the city pass by this square.

    Amsterdam
We stayed there 4 days, it´s close to the center of Amsterdam and there is a walk with many cool views of the city from the hotel center. It´s well communicated and the stop of the tram is just in front of the hotel. Inside it is very tranquil, there is no noise and next to it is a small port and you can see huge boats that arrive by night while you are in the bed. The beds are great, super comfortable and with big pillows. The quality-price relation is good.

    hotel arena
    Hotels in
    Amsterdam
The Hotel Arena in Amsterdam is one of the most unique hotels I have ever stayed at. Over the years, it's been a chapel, orphanage, and backpacker hostel, but now it's a modern hotel with a very peculiar minimalist design. It's located near Plantage, but this is not a problem as there are plenty of trams that can take you to where you want to go. The decor is pretty spare. When we arrived, there were no budget rooms and we had to upgrade, so we enjoyed a giant room with high ceilings, a great bed, and minimal decoration. To give you an idea, the closet was a school locker. However, the design felt daring and industrial at the same time. The hotel has a great restaurant and one of Amsterdam's most famous clubs, so it's perfect for young people.

    boat "volle maan"
    Apartments in
    Amsterdam
This ancient, 30 year old ship has been converted into a floating, high standard apartment for rent. For a reasonable price, it offers excellent service. First, its only a ten minutes walk from the station and the center, but still very quiet. The owners are lovely people who really care about you. We went as a family in March, and this boat is out of the ordinary when visiting the "Venice of the North".

    the bulldog hostel amsterdam

    Amsterdam
A youth hostel in Amsterdam's famous red light district. The showers and toilets are in the same room. The smell was unbearable when I stayed there, and we had to sleep with the windows open because it was impossible to be inside the room. It's not cheap, either. On the plus side, there's a good bar downstairs (yes, it smells of marijuana), and a great, lively atmosphere among the travelers. The location is good in theory, right in the middle of the red light district, but after being there I probably would have gone to a quieter place. I would not recommend it.

easyhotel amsterdam city centre south hotel
    Hotels in
    Amsterdam
If hotels are just for sleeping as far as you're concerned, then this is the hotel for you: a comfy bed and tiny rooms, but more than sufficient for the time that you spend here. Staff are polite. It is semi-self-catering; you'll pay € 5 a day for cleaning, and changing the sheets costs extra, just like the wifi or the TV. The hotel is in a remote but central area, 25 minutes walk from Dam Square and close to the tramlines. Cheap compared to most Amsterdam hotels.

    Amsterdam
The Hotel Casa 400 is a beautiful hotel located near Amsterdam city centre. It's a good choice if you want to explore the city by public transport, with the metro close by (Amstel station). The rooms are spacious, modern, and very clean, with all amenities. Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Absolutely recommended.

    Amsterdam
Holiday Inn Amsterdam is located in the outskirts of Amsterdam and is very convenient for those who travel by car. The tram is very close but the metro is not, and it only takes about 20-25 minutes to reach Dam Square. The hotel is also close to the highway and has external parking at non-prohibitive prices (and it's free at night and on Saturdays and Sundays). The room was quite spacious with two double beds, perfect for families. The rooms have modern decor, carpets and lots of amenities. The best part was undoubtedly breakfast..there was a great selection of cold cuts, hot dishes, juices. Excellent value for a hotel in August, too. A triple room for 115 per night including breakfast.

    camping zeeburg
    Campsites in
    Amsterdam
There were six of us, spending five nights at the campsite Zeeburg, with little expectation. No disappointment at all, so much so, that this year we will go back. The customer care is very good, they help you with everything you need ahead of touring Amsterdam. All camping is pristine, they cleaned the bathroom ten times (we were used to being in campsites where they're cleaned once every two days). We chose the bungalows and recommend them 100%, but yes, not more than five nights or your back begins to resent it, the mattresses are a bit thin. Otherwise everything is great, good atmosphere, good food, a few minutes from the center of Amsterdam. Score 9 out of 10.

    Amsterdam
The Hotel Hestia is small, but has a great location for getting around the city, near Amsterdam's museum district, and with plenty of clubs, bars, and restaurants nearby. If you want to avoid the lift, there's a narrow spiral staircase. The room has everything you need, including free internet access, but space is limited. The staff in the restaurant - where breakfast is served - are very friendly, and the buffet is decent.

    mövenpick hotel amsterdam city centre
    Hotels in
    Amsterdam
This hotel, located next to Muziekgebouw, just five minutes by tram (26 and 25) from Centraal Station, is a superb choice to stay. The rooms are spacious, and the services are great - exactly what you'd expect from this prestigious Swiss chain. It's a modern building, bright, and spacious, with splendid views of the city. The staff are attentive, and we'd particularly like to single out Hans for his great service. Our room was on the 11th floor, and was spacious, with a large window and everything we needed for a pleasant stay, including bathrobes. Because of its quiet location, the bustle of central Amsterdam won't disturb your sleep. The breakfast was great, with particular emphasis on the amount of fresh fruit, and the quality of the hotel's own products. The hotel offers transit to Centraal Station every half hour. Two important services: first, the computers with internet access and printer, allowing you to print your boarding pass easily before you travel. Secondly, the luggage storage service, which is well-organised in a room which only staff can access, with an excellent labelling system. It may seem a bit out of the way, but in reality, this is a great hotel with wonderful service and excellent connections. In summer, or in good weather, you can get there in ten minutes walk from Central Station, spacious rooms (a luxury in European capitals), great breakfast, and rest guaranteed.

    flying pig downtown hostel
    Hotels in
    Amsterdam
When my plane set down in Amsterdam, two years ago, I knew that I wanted to stay at the Flying Pig Downtown. To meet people, have fun and have a good time, this is the best choice. It has a bar, a pool table, and a smoking rooom on the first floor. It was voted the best hostel in Amsterdam by hostelworld.com in 2009, and 2010. Very clean beds, with rooms available for 2, 4, 6 ... up to 32 people! It all depends on the size of your budget and what you're willing to put up with during your stay. The location is perfect, 3 minutes from the train station, on the main street of shops and restaurants. Prices vary greatly - for example, I paid 16 euros a night in a room with 16 beds. I recommend booking in advance online.

    hotel corner house
    Hotels in
    Amsterdam
The best thing about the Hotel Corner House is its location, just behind Dam Square and less than 10 minutes walk from the central station. It has one star, and it's a great choice if you just want somewhere to get your head down at the end of the day. The price - given the location - is great, 90 euros for a triple room which is very large with a shared bathroom (shared with two other rooms ... but I never saw it occupied). On the ground floor there is a bar/cafe/restaurant. The downside is the steep stairs; there's no lift.

    budget hotel marnix city centre
    Hotels in
    Amsterdam
After seeing the website and the photos online, you might well think this is a good choice for your next holiday in Amsterdam. But be careful! In reality it's horrific. The backpacker rooms are low and unventilated, full of the smell of feet, and the sound of snoring. The bathrooms and showers shouldn't be risked without rain boats and a wetsuit, as they don't feel very clean, and the sign telling you not to leave food out in case of rats speaks for itself! Better to sleep on a bench; at least you'll get fresh air.

Located close to Vondelpark and about 15 min walk from downtown bars and entertainment district. Small but adequate room, clean bathroom, not the tidiest ever but good. Breakfast is small but fine, with croissants, toast, coffee, juices ... reception: you'll need to speak English, but they will do what they can to help you and make you feel welcome. In general, if you want an economic hotel close to downtown, and you're not too fussy, it's a good choice.

    Amsterdam
We stayed at the Hotel Bellington for four days, and on the second day we found two small, furry intruders in our room. Yes, mice. We knew the hotel wasn't the cleanest in the world, but we certainly didn't expect to find mice, especially considering the price of the room. We went to reception and all they did was offer to refund our money so we could go stay somewhere else. That's right, on top of the mice we were forced to leave the hotel. We offered to take them to the room to show them the mice but they didn't bother (I think they already knew there were mice). I wouldn't recommend staying there.

It was part of my InterRail pass!! we visited 6 different cities in one month. The best travel experience of my life without any questions ... And for that reason rest was fundamental! This hotel, located 10 minutes from the heart of the city of Amsterdam, has excellent facilities and an unbeatable location at the junction of five canals. The views are unique and the staff are nice and act with great professionalism. They helped to resolve some personal incidents that happened to us on that part of the trip. Fantastic value

    hotel van onna
    Hotels in
    Amsterdam
Let's face it: cost of living in Amsterdam is very high, compared with southern Europe. The amount that you'd pay for a good 3 star hotel in another city will barely get you the most basic room here. But if you have money to spare, and don't want to stay in a hostel, the Hotel Van Onna can be a good choice. It has plenty of plus points: the rooms are very clean, the view is nothing less than lovely (many of the rooms directly overlook Bloemgracht, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful canals in the city), it's in a beautiful old seventeenth-century house, the price includes breakfast (which is rare in hotels of this price), which is good and plentiful. Finally, it's easy to access, with a tram and train station nearby, but you an also walk in this lovely neighbourhood. The only drawback: remember if you pay by credit card, you spend 5% more, so it's better to withdraw some money and pay in cash.
