Malapascua has become the global spot for diving at dawn and for coming across thresher sharks, which are guaranteed to be seen the majority of the year, and the Exotic was the first dive center on the island that started them. The resort is owned by a Dutch/Phillipine couple, and is quite a nice place with very nice rooms and an area for backpackers and people who stay to become divemasters or instructors and spends months on the island. The dive center is the most complete I've seen, has all the qualifications and certifications, such as the National Geographic dive center, and the couple who run it, Jo Hermitage, England. and Angel Navarro, Spanish, created a lively atmosphere and at the same time very professional. Every morning at dawn, the boats come out to find the thresher sharks, and during the day there are regular departures at 9, 13:30, and at 5 pm, with several boat and diving spots, which allow can be several days without repeating dives. My favorite was Jack encounterm Thresher shark island, East garden, Nuñez and Calanggaman. I met many people who had gone to spend a few days and had finally gone weeks and even months to become divemaster or instructor, and that Angel is one of the most renowned instructors worldwide.
Although almost all resorts Malapascua are on the beach and have a lovely view, this place was built on the only small hill of the island in the West, so the sunsets are amazing. The sun sinks into the horizon cutting the palm trees on the island.
The Backpackers Lodge is the most authentic place for backpackers in Moalboal. A two-story building that has some single and doubles rooms but the main accommodation is in bunk beds with mosquito nets and private locker, for just 5 €. It has a chillout area where people come together to chat in the afternoon.
There are very few places in the world where have I felt so good as here. Patrick, Jerrianne, Diggi and Valerie have made a great team in a short time, and have been managing it since late 2011. It's a great resort especially in regard to it's first class service. The resort is situated on a hill that looks over the sea, with 6 simple bungalows with a sea view, and various luxury rooms in a building with garden view. The restaurant is very good, and there's a small and charming dive center, from which there is a staircase leading to the small beach where the boats wait to go to the dive sites.
Chris, the owner of the resort is married to a philipino lady and has spent 25 years living in the country. They both evidently have a great passion for decorating, because the entire resort is exquisitely decorated with Philipino, Indonesian and Thai paintings, carvings, furniture and other decor. The rooms overlook the pool, garden or sea, and the diving center is next to the small pier, where all diving sessions begin each morning. Highly recommended for both divers and non-divers.
Amorita Resort is on Panglao Island in the province of Bohol. Near the airport and close to Bohol Chocolate Hills and the seaport. Facilities at the hotel include an outdoor pool, wireless internet, restaurant and bar. All rooms have cable TV, balconies with views of the garden and sea view.
Anayana Hotel is decorated with natural colors that create a single harmonious environment. Guests are immersed in a sea of luxury and beautiful aesthetics. The experience at this resort is truly intense. All suites here are a synthesis of charm and tranquility. They include bathrooms, and decorative details that create the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing holiday.
Arie and Desiree, a Dutch couple, have created a very special place here. Both are diving instructors and 7 years ago they decided to create the resort and diving centre, as they had dreamed of being divers. The result is Magic Island. A small and cosy resort with 10 bungalows that house up to 25 people, everything is designed especially for divers. It's 3 kms from the town, and there isn't much else to do in the area, but if you're looking for total relaxation it's the perfect place. Everyone eats at communal tables, unless you ask to eat separately, and the atmosphere is very good. During my stay there were German, Dutch and American guests. Every day the boat leaves from the dive centre for two dives in the area at about 9 am and returns at 12 for lunch, and the afternoon dives are at 14:30 and 17h. If you want there's a night dive around the reef, where you can see mandarin fish.
