I often worry about places to stay in that still exist in small towns like Solvang. We considered reserving a room at the Courtyard by Marriott. However, we realized that the hotel was out of the center of town and we wanted something in the middle of the action. We settled with the hotel Corque. It is a boutique hotel with just the right modern European style. It's in the center of town, so there was no excuse not to visit the wine tasting rooms in downtown Solvang and later drag ourselves to our room. It was a block from the main street, so it was nice and quiet! It has a nice pool, a spa, and fresh coffee available all day long in the lobby. The only thing missing was a spa in the hotel. But don't worry about that, because the hotel is owned by Casino Chumas and you can get a discount if you stay at this hotel. I didn't have the opportunity to visit the spa during this trip, unfortunately. It was because I was busy enjoying the wine! Cheers!
The Svendsgaards Danish Lodge has 48 units, including 18 mini-suites with gas fireplaces. All rooms include refrigerators, cable TV with HBO, direct dial phones, hair dryer, ironing board and in-room coffee. Small meeting rooms are also available. The hostel is within walking distance of the center that has about ten restaurants, world-famous bakeries, and over 50 different gift shops. A championship golf course and a restaurant are just six short blocks from the Lodge.
