This hotel offers one of the most beautiful views of all the hotels in the city of Rio de Janeiro. It's located on Avenida Niemeyer, close to the waterfront and Leblon, the most enchanting neighbourhood in the city. The rooms are very big (all with sea view), with air conditioning. There is a large common area for the guests. The Vidigalbergue is also known for its barbecue and weekend trails and trips organized by the owners. The daily rate is $ 35.
The hotel is located in the heart of Copacabana, four blocks from the beach and near a metro station, making it ideal for anyone looking to explore the city. You can travel without problems, whether by bus, metro, or on foot. It is located in an old stone house, and has both private and collective rooms. All the rooms have air conditioning and wi-fi. The Rockers Rio is part of the Hostelling International network; prices start at $ 45.
If you're looking to stay somewhere a bit different, that gives you the chance to meet people from all around the world, this is the perfect hostel for you. It's near the beach, and there are several bus lines nearby, even early in the morning. Try the caipirinha, and be sure to leave a book at the hostel!
The Lemon Spirit Hostel is a great option if you're looking for cheap accommodation in Rio de Janeiro. The location is great, just one block away from the famous Leblon beach, and close to bars, restaurants, shops, supermarkets, and ATMs. You can stay in a 6-bed dorm for $55; the room was very large, with enough space to leave your bag or backpack in the drawer under the bed. There's a large shared bathroom, with a very nice shower. There's free wifi throughout the hostel, and some computers available. It also offers free breakfast - fruit, bread, cheese, ham, juice, coffee, hot chocolate, etc. You can book some tours here. Most of the guests are young, and the hostel has a bar inside that gets pretty lively at night.
At the time that this hostel was first opened, there were only nine shelters in the entire city of Rio. Today there are more than 100, and it seems like a new one is opened almost every day! This is a great option, with wonderful service. We were there in low season, but we still met people from all over Latin America, Europe, and the United States. There are dormitories or rooms with private bathrooms. The breakfast is delicious, and the pizza is great, too, with a classic Argentine barbecue on Friday. It's a quiet neighbourhood, close to everything - the beaches, including Copacabana, the shopping malls, bars, metro stations, and bus stops.
Finding a good place to stay in the city of Rio de Janeiro isn't easy. The city has plenty of hotels, but many are expensive. This is why the Hotel Bonita Ipanema came as a pleasant surprise. The former home of Tom Jobim, it is located in a very nice area of Rio, near the heart of Ipanema, only a few blocks from the beach. There are some shared dormitories, but I opted for a private room (with bathroom), which was still 50% cheaper than other rooms in the area. The rooms are simple, but the hotel also has a small swimming pool, a lounge and a bar. The breakfast is included in the price, and all rooms have wifi. A great option for staying in Rio on the cheap!
