Highlights

  • Discover the World Heritage landscapes of the Serra de Tramuntana.
  • Visit the medieval village of Banyalbufar and discover its rich history.
  • Relax at a secret beach and enjoy a picnic of traditional Mallorcan delicacies.

What to expect

You'll depart from downtown Palma at 9:00 in the morning to visit the Serra de Tramuntana, the World Heritage Site mountain range which cuts across the northern half of the island. While Mallorca's coast is the star of most tourists’ itineraries, the Serra de Tramuntana is one of the island's best-kept secrets and home to incredible landscapes, hidden coves and beautiful medieval villages.

During this private hiking tour, you'll be walking the Camí des Correu (literally, the 'Mail Trail'), a historic route once used by the island's postmen to deliver mail to remote villages. The trail runs through lush Mediterranean pine forests and scenic valleys and has a number of observation points from which you can enjoy stunning views of the mountains. As you walk, your private guide will point out the local flora and fauna along the trail and give you some insights into the history and customs of rural Mallorca.

When the landscapes change from hills and forests to lush vineyards, you'll know you've arrived at Banyalbufar. This medieval village seems to cascade down the coastal hills to the sea and is famous for its narrow streets (a relic from the Moorish era) and the iconic Torre de Ses Ánimes, a watchtower once used to defend the town against roving pirates.

After visiting Banyalbufar, you'll head to a secret local beach where you'll have time to relax and cool off in the clear turquoise waters of the Mediterranean. To finish the experience, you'll enjoy a picnic lunch of traditional Mallorcan specialties like empanadas, cocas de trampó and ensaimadas.

After lunch and a well-deserved rest, you'll board a bus to begin the return journey to Palma.
