About Air China

Air China is the national carrier of the People's Republic of China and offers both low-cost shuttle flights within the Chinese mainland an array of long-haul routes throughout Asia, Europe, and North America. Air China's fleet and in-flight services have generally received positive reviews from fliers, though its sometimes-byzantine customer service procedures are a common point of contention. Air China is currently a member of the Star Alliance group. The Air China website is available in both English and Chinese and offers features like direct booking, booking management, general information, and frequent flier information. The website also offers detailed information on free baggage allowance for domestic and international flights (currently two free checked bags for economy-class passengers), carry-on luggage specifications, and fees for excess checked baggage. As is standard, the Air China website offers a simple flight status tool as well as route maps and information and on its Phoenix Miles frequent flier program. In recent years, Air China has become known for the quality of its premium cabins including its Capital Pavilion Business Class section (which includes visa-free stopovers and spacious reclining seats) and its luxurious Forbidden Pavilion First Class section which offers fully-reclining seats, private seating modules, and large-screen televisions.

Reviews of this airline

  • Air China is one of the China's fabled “Big 3” carriers and the one that (in my and many others' opinions, at least) offers the best service and the best value. That being said, the real reason many fly Air China is its absolutely stunning Business Class. Oh it'll cost you an arm and a leg but it's worth it for discerning flyers. First you get a priority lane through security and check in, then once you board there's a huge personal television with noise-cancelling headphones and a foot stand to kick your legs up and relax. If you're really looking for the luxury experience, though, its First Class section (colorfully called the “Forbidden Pavilion”) is where it's at: you basically get our own private little nook complete with pillows, blankets, and a comfy seat that reclines 100%!
