KLM (or Royal Dutch Airlines) is the national carrier of the Netherlands and the oldest air carrier in the world

About KLM

KLM (also known as Royal Dutch Airlines) is the national airlines of the Netherlands and the oldest air carrier in the world. In 2004, KLM merged with Air France but both brands continue to operate their own flights to destinations throughout Europe and the world at large. KLM is currently a member of the SkyTeam airline alliance. KLM enjoys consistently positive reviews from flyers who praise the airline's efficiency, roomy cabins, and cheerful cabin crew. The KLM website offers a straightforward and visually-friendly experience to flyers and has immediately-visible buttons to complete an online check in, access a flight tracker to check a flight's status, and view the details of one's reservations. Since KLM's baggage policy depends on the specific flight itinerary, the KLM website offers a simple tool to check the free checked baggage allowance on one's flight, even if tickets have not yet been purchased. In general, KLM allows one free piece of checked baggage for international flights and lets users receive a substantial discount on excess baggage fees if they check their excess bags online. Though KLM does not offer a First Class cabin, it is well-known for its excellent Business Class for international and European flights. KLM's Business Class offers fully-reclining seats, complimentary amenity kits, lounge access, and priority boarding.

Reviews of this airline

  • In my opinion, KLM (or Royal Dutch Airlines) is one of the best airlines in Europe. It's efficient, professional, and not overly-priced, plus the customers service is among the best I've ever experienced from a major air carrier. If you can, try to upgrade to KLM's World Business Class. You get your own little pod with a whopping 17-inch screen and entertainment center, plus a seat that reclines into a full bed. If you're just flying around Europe though, make sure to check out KLM's baggage allowance policy before booking your ticket. For a lot of European flights, they charge baggage fees to flyers who aren't members of their frequent flyer service (cabin bags are still allowed for free).
