Berlin Schönefeld Airport

6 reviews of Berlin Schönefeld Airport

Schönefeld

Schönefeld is the former airport of East Berlin. It is connected to the city center by trains S9, S45, the Airport Express and the bus 171 or X7, leading to the underground station Rudow U7. Although relatively small, Schönefeld has direct flights to major European capitals with EasyJet and Ryanair, as well as domestic flights with German Wings. From Spain there are direct flights to Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca and Ibiza. On the first floor of Terminal A is the Mövenpick restaurant with great breakfasts and views of the runways. They are building a new runway for 2011.

Berlin Schönefeld Airport

Schonefeld is the former East Berlin airport, and is located about 20km from the city center. This airport hosts many lowcost airlines such as Easyjet, Ryanair and Germanwings. To arrive there, hop on the S-bahn line 9 that is direct from Alexanderplatz to the airport. When we had to work, we took a free shuttle bus to another stop of the S-Bahn 9. The airport is located in Area C of travel, so you have to buy a special ticket, a single ticket costing 2.80 euros. If you want a ticket that includes travel within Berlin for the day, the price is 5.60 euros. The inside of the airport is pretty basic, at least security is quick, and there are some shops.
