Everywhere you look you see mountains
Grenoble city is considered a catalyst for the French Revolution. It is located between three valleys which means that everywhere you look you see mountains, the Alps. With a great university tradition (almost 50,000 students) this is one of the cities at the forefront of France. The city center, the Place Notre-Dame, the streets Rue des Clercs, Grande Rue etc are full of restaurants and shops mainly selling clothing and footwear and jewellery. The Sainte Claire is a market with windows and a curious fountain at the main entrance. El Jardin de Ville has a large park to relax and unwind, and by one of the entries there are several restaurants with terraces which are sheltered from the sun by large trees.
