Traditional and modern
The Northern Tavern pub in Ditchling Road, just outside the city on the way to London. A small pub that used to be independent, now bought by a chain, Shepherd Neame, and recently renovated. The style combines the traditional and modern, the kitchen was also fully renovated, with a new menu. It lacks a terrace, but other than that, it's a good place to have a drink. The food menu is not extensive but includes dishes, sauces, gravy, sausage, roasts, and is decent. Deals until noon, almost as cheap as fast food restaurants. The bus in front connects you to the city center.
