The Via Roma, or the Cagliari boardwalk, has on the mountain side some buildings with porticoes and palaces from the early twentieth century which protects the pedestrians passing through the Marina district. This neighbourhood was originally intended to house the workers from the port, customs, fishermen and general townsfolk of Cagliari. It is divided into parallel and perpendicular streets. The street Largo Carlo Felice begins at the port and flows into the Piazza Yenne. It is a mandatory route to explore in the city.
