The Costa da Vela is a uniquely beautiful coast of rugged cliffs and unspoiled beaches located between Vigo and Pontevedra. It stretched from the cape of Cabo Home to the cliffs of Dolón and has been declared a natural monument by the Galician government. The cliffs sometimes reach up to 300 meters high and offer amazing views over the ocean. Some parts are good for walking, but it's best to go by car as a lot of areas (like Monte Facho, for example) have free parking. Ancient forts and structures dot the landscape and the sunset over the Atlantic is one of the most spectacular I've ever seen. Seriously, people even started applauding!
In Cape Silleiro there is a lighthouse which was opened in the year 1866. In August 1924, the new building that would house the lighthouse was opened at a height of 85 m, at the top of the mountain. From the center of Bayonne there is a road to Baredo in the direction of The Guard direction and 5 km is the turning that leads to the lookout. Accessibility: by car, bus or walking.
