Outside any utopia, this restaurant-bar confirms that family treatment is not incompatible with quality. Do not expect luxury, not just a few people whose professionalism has been earned with time, not having gone to any hospitality school. At the bar we met Gabi and Dani that served us with skill and sympathy, plus some good snacks. In the dining room there was Esther, his daughter and one or two employees who will guide you as to the menu refers. Finally in the kitchen there is a large master roaster called Angel (pictured) is the creator of us to get to our taste the excellent roasted. The roasts must be ordered a day or two in advance. In this regard I recommend be responsible shoulders, extremely tasty. The star dish for my taste, apart from the meat of the Sierra de Guadarrama and croquettes, is baby squid salad with endive and sour sauce. Sensational. They also have daily menu Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. A highly recommended place.
Restaurante Parra is one of the best restaurants in Manzanares El Real, a small town about an hour outside of Madrid that is popular among day-trippers looking to explore the waterfalls and chasms of the La Pedriza park or visit the immaculate New Castle of Manzanares el Real. We had spent a long morning out hiking in the cold and we wanted to find a rustic, cozy restaurant where we could refuel with some hot, satisfying mountain food. Restaurante Parra proved to be the perfect choice.
We settled down and ordered a bottle of hearty red wine and an order of grilled sweetbreads for a started. The sweetbreads were unctuous, flavorful, and drizzled with paprika-spiked olive oil that gave them a unique flavor. Then, my wife got a roasted leg of lamb (“lechazo” as it’s known locally) and I got a hefty sirloin steak made with local Guadarrama beef. The beef literally melted in my mouth and the lechazo had that irresistible mix of smoky, crispy skin and juicy, fatty meat. In short, we had found the meal we were looking for.
The price for the bottle of wine, starter, two mains (which, to be fair, could have been shared but we were very hungry), and desert came out to around €75.00. It’s a little higher than our normal lunch budget, but it’s more than reasonable if you’re looking to enjoy a special lunch of rustic roast lamb up in the mountains. All in all an awesome place.
