Crossing the suspension bridge over the river Támega, you'll find a large recreational area along the river, in which there is a vast green area that includes a lawn, rest areas, and several trails, both for walking and for cycling. I found it curious that the trails were painted different colors: The red ones are bike lanes, and the yellow ones are for pedestrians. There is also a children's play area with swings, slides, etc., and next to it a beach bar with loud music and a circuit where kids were practicing skate and bike-cross. It is a very nice place, and is often frequented by the inhabitants of the city, who were there taking a Sunday stroll through this nice park.
This recreation area is at the top of a hill, between the Portuguese town of CERVEIRA and Vilanova de Caminha. There are wooden tables and fountains, and an excellent view of the mouth of the river Miño. There is also a small exhibition consisting of a skeleton and several sheep with helmets, it's rather odd. In this area the popular Cross of Independence is just a few meters from the road.
