Mercado Modelo La Placita

This traditional market was founded in 1962. It has no outstanding architectural features, but more than 250 stalls scattered across its surface; my first impression was sheer chaos! Historically, the items on sale were purely regional - herbs, vegetables, Paraguayan soup, bulbs, cassava flour, prepared foods, nuts, sugarcane, snuff, candy, earrings, bracelets and leather sandals. It was really a landmark, but all that has been lost now, in favour of Chinese toys, imported electronics, accessories, gifts, clothing, etc. It really feels like it's lost its' history, culture and above all, its identity. A survivor of the economic crisis, it's been declared a Provincial Heritage, which is strange because it really feels like it's lost its heritage. It's leaky when it rains, and you can expect torrents of water pouring down. The place is "La Placita", more information can be found at the Ministry of Tourism in 1985 Columbus Street

Mercado Artesanal Tradicional

The Craft Market is in what was once the family home of Pablo Arias Velásquez in 1533 and the first mill of Salta in 1583. This aristocratic Jesuit family transferred ownership of thick adobe walls in 1760 to undertake educational work they were doing in the northeast, northwest and south of our country. In 1767 King Charles V of Spain made it clear that all property and assets of America and Spain were held by "Secular Boards" and with closed schools, universities etc. The house was owned by a former governor in 1807, bought by another family in 1829 and amended during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. This historic home was one of the first permanent markets in the country and was opened as such in 1968. Here you can find all kinds of handcrafted works such as pottery, basketry, fine silver, nickel, wrought iron, a variety of musical instruments, worked loom ponchos, etc. It is open every day of the year from 9:00 to 21:00. Pegadito is the same as Rock and Restaurant El Rastro with characterized folkloric shows and regional cuisine such as empanadas, tamales, roasts and a variety of salads and desserts. The location is the Artisan Market, other information can be obtained from the Official Website of Salta Tourism residing in Buenos Aires street No. 93.

Market and Municipal Fridge

This building was inaugurated on February 15, 1936 on the same site occupying the old market founded by Governor Absalom Rojas. It has a dome-shaped roof on a large rectangle, and is accessed by Pedestrian Tucumán and La Plata Street exit. There are three floors, the ground floor retail shops: grocers, butchers, greengrocers, fishmongers, bakeries, grocery stores, bars, etc.., There are retailers and wholesalers that sell food, forklifts, and even bathrooms. On the first floor, also accessed by an escalator, there is a covered veranda for the market of regional handicrafts, poultry and game. On their side is a municipal office space and its dependencies and on the second floor are the freezers. It was completely built on a concrete base by Jorge Kalnay. Remodeling and incorporating some elements for a market can seem a little strange, and can cause a feeling of crowding and a bit of disorder. The Market is concessioned to the Cooperative Harmony Ltd. Integrated by traders who occupy the posts. Other information comes from the official website of Tourism appointment Liberty Street 417, CP. 4200. Go ahead and check it out.
