    One of the most popular things to see in Hoi An is the Japanese Covered Bridge.

    Built by Japanese traders in the late 16th century, its mission was to unite the Japanese commercial district (west) with Chinatown (east) on a small tributary of the Thu Bon River. Guarded by statues at both ends (dogs and monkeys), as you cross the bridge you'll find an altar dominated by a statue of Bac De Ong, one of the incarnations of the Jade Emperor.     The Cantonese Assembly Hall is another of the unmissable places to visit in Hoi An. Built in 1786 by sailors and traders, its outside appearance resembles a pagoda, and it was also used to worship the warrior Quan Cong and the sea goddess Thien Hau.
