The Ghent Marriott Hotel is located in the city's most famous area, next to the main channel. Everything is close to the hotel and you can walk everywhere. It is a modern hotel in an old building with a restored facade. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I would say it's a cheap hotel for what you get.
On our break to Flanders we used Ghent as a hub as it is very well connected by rail with other cities (Bruges, Brussels and Leuven) and hotel prices were cheaper. We stayed at the 3 star Best Western Residence Cour St. Georges located in a historic eighteenth century building in the historic center of Ghent. Without doubt, it is the best location as you can walk anywhere in the city, it is in front of the Town Hall (Stadhuis) and one block from the famous Sint Baafs Plein, the square where the Cathedral is and Belfry (Belfort). It is a small hotel - only 32 rooms. I warn you that when I was there it was being remodeled, so I recommend asking for a room in the "new" hotel. Our room was very nice and quite large, it had a corridor (which was the closet) from which you accessed the bathroom (right) and the bedroom (left). The room had heating, a small fan, two quite comfortable beds, a small table with two armchairs, a writing desk with TV and a minibar. The views overlooked the street (other rooms overlook an awful courtyard). And best of all: free wifi! The huge all marble bathroom had just been remodeled with a large tub, countertop with built-in washbasin and the toilet was in a separate room. There was a hairdryer but it lacked the full range of amenities (there was only a soap dispenser). The room price included a breakfast buffet, served in the first floor breakfast room which had the old decor of the historic building. Breakfast was varied: assorted pastries, juices, meats, yogurts, cereals, fruit, etc. We were very comfortable here and it worked out to be pretty well priced (90 €/double room/night) compared to other prices in Flanders. So I totally recommend it.
The Flandria hotel is very well situated in the center of the city. Its rooms have a complete bathroom, 17 with bath and / or shower and 6 only with shower and it has a TV, internet, heating, writing desk and fridge. It has a cafe with a buffet breakfast that is served in a breakfast room because there isn´t a restaurant. Your rececpción is open from 07.00 hours to 22.00 hours, and it closes at night. The hotel accepts payment cards: Mastercard, Visa and American Express.
This hostel in Ghent was a sanctuary while travelling through Belgium for a week. It's a very quiet and convenient place to prepare for what lay ahead. The rooms were very complete, with two bunk beds, table and chairs and a wardrobe. There was an en suite, with shower, such a luxury! We shared a room with another Spanish girl and a very nice Japanese girl. We really didn't have any problems with roommates! Breakfast was really good, with bread, yogourt, juices, coffee, tea, cold cuts, and cereal. This hostel has no kitchen for guests, but you can ask the receptionist to warm anything you want in the microwave. Also the receptionists spoke Spanish, and the one who wasn't very nice had some trouble. The living room was very spacious, with tables and sofas, a television and many games for both adults and children. It also has a bar where the beers are very cheap, considering how expensive they are in the street bars (5 € + or -).
