Legendary Theories
The Antiquarium museum is in Taranto. Its foundation has several theories, some being legendary: one links it with the arrival of Metabo, the son of Sisyphus, who was king of Epirus. Another links it to Focesi's arrival by sea, and another links it with the arrival of the veterans of Pilesi or the legionnaires from Troy. it sits opposite the Jonic coast in the Gulf of Taranto. Metaponto today is both a cultural destination and beach getaway.
