Basse-Terre Island

Guadalupe Island is formed by two large, butterfly-shaped islands called Grande-Terre and Basse-Terre and joined by a narrow canal called the Riviere Salee. The island of Basse-Terre is on the left side of this butterfly, has an area of ​​848 km2 and is the largest of the Lesser Antilles. It is a mountainous island of volcanic origin, consisting of steep mountains covered by lush rainforests of tall trees and dense ferns (it is the greenest island in Guadalupe).
