Even though it's only two steps away from the most touristy place in Santa Monica, this place is frequented mostly by locals ... The best fish and chips in the city, to be eaten right at the bar, and served on traditional paper.
My experience at Big Deans was one of the worst I've ever had. Not only was the service shockingly poor, but I was also overcharged for drinks—18 instead of the 3 I ordered. When I raised this issue, the staff was dismissive and rude, showing no willingness to correct their mistake.
The atmosphere was marred by unprofessionalism, and it felt like the staff couldn’t care less about their customers. If you value your time and money, do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place. There are plenty of better options nearby that actually know how to treat their patrons right.
