Cathedral Museum

The Cathedral of Vienna and the Diocesan Museum, which were founded in 1933, are regarded as two of the gems in this city, among the many museums of Vienna. Its permanent collection include works of art from a period of over a thousand years. The main focus is on the sacred or holy art of St. Stephen's Cathedral and other churches in Vienna and Lower Austria. The most famous and precious treasure there is the portrait of Duke Rudolf IV, painted in the l4th century. It's said to be the oldest portrait in the West.
