An Antique Graint Monolith

This kind of stone monolith is in the gardens of the park of April 25th on the banks of the Coura River and at the mouth of the Miño River. This ancient monument is a tribute to the Bernardin troops and was arranged by General Freire to commemorate the 100 years of defence of the Miño River that transpired at the beginning of the 19th century during the second French invasion, particularly from 1809 to 1909. With the help of the people, the French troops would not able to invade the city at that time.
