5 reviews of Capo Coda Cavallo

An essential stop near San Teodoro

There are two main ways of reaching this fantastic beach near San Teodoro: paid parking near the beach or free parking a 15 minute’s walk from the beach. I opted for the latter and actually had the chance to enjoy a nice walk through the beautiful countryside around Capo Coda Cavallo.

The view that unfolds before your eyes will leave you speechless. The rays of Sardinian sun reflecting off the blue ocean will make you want to immediately dive in. My advice: don’t order anything from the vendors who sell ice cream, snacks, water, and the like. It’s way overpriced!

A heavenly bay

The bay of Capo Coda Cavallo is located 14 kilometers north of San Teodoro and 26 kilometers south of Olbia. It’s an enchanting place where the crystal-clear sea takes on every shade of blue imaginable.

The bay is located right in front of the islands of Proratora, Tavolara, and Molara and you can get there easily on the SS125. The area is known for its shallow, sandy waters, granite cliffs, and wealth of coves, many of which form part of the Tavolara – Punta Coda Cavallo protected area. The main white-sand beach of Capo Coda Cavallo, while not huge, does have a snack bar and a parking lot.

Hidden coves

The Capo Coda Cavallo area is a slice of pure Sardinian paradise. There’s nothing better than sitting on the sand and contemplating the sea, the boats, and the various islands like Tavolara, a protected natural reserve. In the surrounding area, there’s a lot of pristine wilderness despite the recent housing boom in the area. The homes in Coda Cavallo are well integrated into the landscape and are basically invisible from the beach. Although it’s a touristy and popular place, the beach isn't usually crowded because it’s located at the very end of the cape. If you have to patience to get there, you’ll

Tones of blue

A stop at Capo Coda Cavallo is a must if you’re in the area. The beach isn’t the biggest one on the island, but the colors of the water are incredible. If you don’t have time to take a swim, just stop and snap some amazing photos.

Beautiful coastline

It’s hard to convey just how beautiful this place is. It’s a clean pebble beach with crystalline waters in all different shades of blue and green. The beach is surrounded by small islands and beautiful coastline so the views are just stunning.
