In early 1990, Spanish Shipyards decided to undertake the restoration project of the Old Dam Factory Careenings of Matagorda and its surroundings. These efforts resulted in the creation of a Shipyard Museum, this achievement marked the launch of a focus on cultural interest to attract all kinds of people interested in past and present naval industry.
