Cueva de Gough

The Gough cave is famous for being the most beautiful in Britain. Formed of limestone, water dripping through the ceiling of the cave created beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. Our ancestors lived in the cave entrance, over 1,000 years ago in the Paleolithic Era (Old Stone Age) and there is evidence of human cannibalism here during the last Ice Age 12,000 BP. In the Mesolithic (Middle Stone Age) hunter-gatherers, known as "Men of Cheddar".
