Beach vacations

Isola Rossa is a small town in the north of Sardinia. It’s no surprise that it’s a favorite destination for many Sardinians and makes for a great starting point to explore the island.

The name “Isola Rossa” (“Red Island”) comes from a small nearby island whose red silhouette is a characteristic an unavoidable part of the landscape. While the beaches get pretty crowded during some summer months, it’s still one of the more peaceful and calm corners of the island.

Isola Rossa: picturesque beach in northern Sardinia

This pretty village is located in northern Sardinia (in the Olbia-Tempio province to be exact) and named after the red-colored coastal cliffs with their 16th-century Spanish tower overlooking the sea. The whole area is covered in natural walking paths to explore during the spring and fall when the temperatures are mild. The place has its own charm in winter, too, and a dip in the turquoise waters is a must in summertime, especially at the Marinedda Beach nestled among the red rocks of Punta Canneddi. For lunch, you can pack a picnic and eat on the beach or head back to the village of Isola Rossa

Sun, sea, and sky

Isola Rossa is a small village in front of Castelsardo in Sardinia. A 16th-century Aragonese tower still looks over the bay containing a small untouched island which has lent its name to the village. These days, fishing is no longer the main industry in the town, but there is still a small, scenic marina. Even in June, this little village is quiet and there’s nothing to do but enjoy the sun, the sea, and the sky.

White sand beaches

Isola Rossa is considered by many mainland Italian and international tourist to be one of the best beaches in Sardinia. In fact, Isola Rossa has become a very touristy little town between Castelsardo and Santa Teresa di Gallura and is famous for its white sand beaches and clear waters.
