The Kuromon Market is the ancient Emmeji market, used to be named after a temple of the same name in the vicinity, but since the Meiji period it changed its name to what it is today, Kuromon, which means "black doors" relating to the doors between the shopping street and this temple. The market is an indoor market that keeps the charm of traditional Japanese markets, with over 600m of street and 170 stalls with fresh products such as fish, vegetables, livestock products and vegetables.
