1 review of Lapidary Museum

one of the oldest public museums in Europe

Lapidary Museum is one of the oldest public museums in Europe. It was opened in the year 1714, thanks to the work of the Marquis Scipione Maffei, a man of Veronese origin. The original nucleus of the museum can be found in the small space between the ancient walls which join with the old castle in Piazza Bra, made of thirty Nichesola marbles. Romantic members of the family gathered by the Philharmonic Academy, which is displayed in the courtyard, opposite the building.
