Medieval Castle of Dunguaire

THE BANQUET!

I see that many have written about the castle itself and even acknowledging the nightly banquet, but few every really attend! I in fact did reserve and attend the famed banquet.

It was probably more geared towards kids/teens and older folks. That being said it was very cute and lovely to see. When walking into the castle, we were greeted by a charming fellow and a honey wine that was extremely sweet. From there we were guided into the foyer with a woman playing a harp and treated as if we were royal guests to the castle. A lord and lady were announced from a couple of tourists and were honored throughout the night. I could tell that the kids were having a brilliant time seeing adults pretend with them. There were about 40 people there when we went.

The Castle of Questions

Excellent

This was the last stop on our tour to the Cliffs of Moher. It's a 16th century tower on the south eastern coast of Galway Bay in County Galway, Ireland, near Kinvarra. The castle tower is 75 feet tall and the walls have been restored several times. The gardens are open for tourists to enter as they please. It's believed to be the most photographed castle in Ireland. Dunguaire was used as a location to film the supposed home, a Scottish castle, of the protagonist of the 1979 film, North Sea Hijack. Traditionally, the lord of Castle Dunguaire was very generous and his generosity continues in the afterlife.

Beautiful views

This medieval castle can be found in the middle of the road and although there is no parking for curious tourists it is not difficult to find somewhere to park your car. For six euros you can go inside the castle and see every room, climb to the top and see the beautiful view it offers.
