Agios Stefanos Monastery

A rare geological phenomenon, created these rocks that rise up in the middle of the plain of Thessaly as if to get to heaven. These natural sculptures were called METEORA. The tops of the rocks, because they are isolated from the rest of the world, have been since the 11th century perfect retreat for hermits and 3 centuries later began to construct the 1st monasteries. They saved murals, manuscripts and treasures. In olden times one could only reach the top by pulling the monks network with a pulley. Today a path that runs between the rocks, makes us dream and feel like traveling to another world.
