A lovely place

Excellent

Montegordo is a hamlet in the Portuguese municipality of Vila Real de Santo Antonio, Algarve. It is 10 km from the border with Spain from Ayamonte (Huelva). It is not the only a fishing village converted to tourism as it retains its identity more strongly than other towns farther west in the region. Its wide "praia" (beach in Portuguese) and its quiet streets make this a lovely place. At dawn it's easy to find fishermen, who leave their bikes on the shore, to collect clams which they then sell on the street or in the supply market. There are many shops on the main street but there was one selling decorative items that had one of the most beautiful windows I've ever seen.
