Monument to Cardinal Belluga

In the main portico of the Church of Motril and facing Plaza de España and the Town Hall, you will find this statue of Cardinal Belluga, a work by the sculptor Pablo Coronado Martin, born in Motril in 1898. The statue was created in 1948, from artificial stone. The Cardinal sits upon a pedestal more than two meters high, on which can be read "Motril's illustrious son Cardinal Belluga, CMXLVIII". Earlier this statue was situated in Plaza de España, before being moved to its current location.
