1 review of Mount Somers Trek

Fantastic Mountains

Located at the eastern end of the Southern Alps, near Ashburton, Mount Somers is of volcanic origin. There's hiking interest here, not only because of the fantastic mountains, but also because of the old abandoned coal mines, water filled caves, lava formations, waterfalls and panoramic views of the highlands. There are two hiking trails, one starts from park Woolshed Creek, and the other, Ridge Stavely, starts from the Sharplin waterfall.
